Holiday Wreath & Brush Calligraphy Workshop

October 30, 2015 Christa Lipinski
Holiday Wreath Workshop

I'm super excited to announce that I've just added several upcoming holiday wreath and brush calligraphy workshops to my WORKSHOPS calendar page. I am teaming up with Julia of Luminous Lines Creative to teach you how to create a beautiful festive fresh holiday wreath that will have all your neighbors and friends thinking you turned into Martha Stewart. The wreaths will be made using locally sourced holiday greens and berries. The wreaths will stay fresh for about two weeks and they will dry out beautifully so you can keep it up through the new year.

Julia will be teaching the basic fundamentals of brush calligraphy so you can create an elegant banner to complete your wreath. In these 2-in-1 classes, you will be learning two amazing skill sets that you can re-use year after year! If you have any questions about any of my classes, send me an email or leave a comment below and I'll do my best to answer. Make sure you are signed up for The Bee's Knees newsletter so you can get all my announcements for new workshop dates and other exciting news.

xx

Inspiration: Flower House

October 25, 2015 Christa Lipinski
Flower house detroit

Last weekend, Lisa Waud, Detroit floral designer of Pot & Box opened up the FLOWER HOUSE to the public for three days to see a magnificent living art show. Lisa purchased an abandoned house in Detroit with the vision to invite floral designers from all over the US to help her artistically fill the house from floor to ceiling with American grown flowers. Her vision literally came to life and although I didn't get to see it in person, I am excited to share with you the photos (from Heather Saunders Photography) and video (from Hello Future Films) from the Flower House. This venture of Lisa's is truly inspiring in the way of art, sustainability and for the rebirth of Detroit. Doing something this grand is an artist's/designer's dream and I am itching to now go find myself a project like this. There is nothing more beautiful to me than decaying wood and peeling wallpaper and paint contrasted by vibrant fresh flowers.

Lisa's plan is to now responsibly deconstruct the home and use the property for a flower farm for Pot & Box. If you would like a more detailed description of the design of each room, visit Debra Prinzing's blog or podcast here.

{Sneak Peek} San Diego Ranch Wedding

September 27, 2015 Christa Lipinski
San Diego Ranch Wedding Couple

September definitely brought the heat to Southern California but it also brought this gorgeous couple together for their wedding day.  Courtney & Andrew got married at Red Barn Ranch in San Diego, CA. I met with Courtney early on in the planning process and loved getting to know about her love for gardening and for flowers. Nothing makes me happier than a bride who loves flowers as much as I do! Courtney shared with me that she liked the look of shabby chic but a bit more modernized and less shabby. Her bridesmaids wore their own unique dress in different colors but in the same soft color palette. When choosing the flowers, I selected blooms that would unify the color palette and the style of the wedding.  Equinox Photo was kind enough to share with me a few sneak peeksr photos. Stay tuned for more to come!

Christa Rose Has a New Look

Christa Rose Event Styling and Floral Design Using Locally Grown Blooms

If you noticed things look a bit different around here and that I've majorly been slacking on the blogging, it's because I've been working hard on my re-brand. At the first of the year, I pledged to only use locally grown blooms for all weddings and events. With this pledge came a new look and logo that I've been working on with the extremely talented Julia of Luminous Lines Creative. Together, we came up with the essence of my design style: fluidly organic, Art Nouveau-inspired and rich in texture and style. I am beyond thrilled with the end result and am excited to have a beautiful new platform to share with you my work and the importance of supporting local flower farms. If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for "The Bee's Knees," my newsletter that will be sent right to your inbox and will let you know of upcoming workshops, floral tips and tricks of the trade and what you can do to support local flower farms.
